Fitness Myths

Updated: Dec 4, 2023

  • You will not lose more body fat doing fasted cardio than fed cardio.

  • Ladies, you will not look like the Hulk when you lift weights. You’ll only build substantial muscle if you consistently create a calorie surplus with progressive training overloads over loooooooong periods of time.

  • There is no such thing as "spot reduction". Everyone is different & will reduce body fat at different places first & last. Stay consistent long enough & you'll get there.

  • Muscle will not turn to fat if you stop training as muscle and fat are two different things.

  • You can still build muscle and lose fat when you over 40

  • There is no such thing as a “cheat meal”. Please stop saying this, it only creates guilt.

  • Eating late won’t make you gain weight, unless it drives you to eat more. (overconsume)

  • There’s no such thing as a “negative calorie” food.

  • Crunches will definitely not guarantee you a visible six-pack abs, so stop doing 1000 crunches every day.

  • Expensive supplements are NOT necessary for weight loss.

  • Sweating a lot during exercise, does not mean you are losing more fat. We sweat as a natural physiological response to regulate body temperature.

  • Eating after 6pm, WILL NOT automatically make you gain weight. You still use energy when sleeping, because you are not dead!

  • Carbs WILL NOT make you fat just by eating them. If you still remain in a caloric deficit, you will lose weight.

  • Energy balance is the fundamental principle to weight loss (fat loss). You cannot bypass this. But Food quality is still of utmost importance, & will affect many factors, such as your cravings, appetite & satiety.
